Thai One or Taiwan?

Never know that how misleading the word "One" is, especially in Singapore.

Two weeks ago, My Colleague and I went to Thai temple. We met in Chinatown for lunch with her friends.

--> Side tracks: The XO Fish Meat and Fish Head is GREAT!

Anyway, after lunch, as we did not know exactly where the location is, so we took a taxi.

Us : "Thai temple, Uncle."
Driver : "Where is it?"
Us : "Thai temple, do you know where is it? Heard that it is nearby"
Driver : "Oh.... Thai one"
Us : "No... It is Thai temple"
Driver : "Yeah la, Thai one right?"
Us : "No... Not Taiwan, it's Thailand"
Driver : "Yeah la... Thai one lo.."

... (few seconds) I finally catched what he meant.

Linda : "Thai one a, Len. Not Taiwan" (Told my colleague in Hokkien)
telling uncle "Yeah correct uncle, It is Thai one"
Lena : "Ohhhhh..."

Uncle started to drive and kept explaining "Not Taiwan, but I said Thai one"

The moral of the story is:
Don't use the word 'one', when it is unnecessary. =P
